Secretary Perry saw firsthand Iceland’s ground-breaking geothermal technology and expressed his vision for a road to long-term energy solutions for both countries.

U.S. Ambassador Gunter Sets Up Largest Delegation

From October 10 to 12, 2019, the United States sent its largest-ever delegation to the Arctic Circle Assembly, with over 250 state and federal leaders. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was invited to speak at the Arctic Circle Assembly on October 10-12, 2019. Senator Murkowski, co-chair of the United States Senate Arctic Caucus, is a strong advocate for Alaska and the United States on issues such as the Arctic, sustainable exploration, and indigenous peoples.

Solutions For a Better Tomorrow

Admiral Robert Burke, Commander of US Naval Forces Europe – US Naval Forces Africa, and Joint Forces NATO Allied Commander, visited Iceland on October 30th and 31st, 2020. The visit aided in the implementation of the New Arctic Strategy. Admiral Burke toured Keflavik Airbase, attended a dinner briefing with the Embassy country team, and met with Iceland’s new Chief of Defense, Bryndis Kjartansdottir, and other Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacts during his visit.
